Make a 3D product configurator, without code

In Studio's Configure tab, offer your looks, a file's own colourways, and finishes for chosen parts. Viewers pick them on review links, public pages and embeds.

A 3D configurator lets the people looking at your model change it: switch between your Studio looks, pick one of the file's own colourways, or choose a finish for the parts you picked (the doors, the top, the handles). You set it up in Studio's Configure tab by clicking, and viewers get swatches next to the model on review links and public pages (Solo) and in embeds (Studio).

Set it up

  1. Open the model in Studio

From the sidebar, the model's Lighting panel or its ••• menu.

  2. Open the Configure tab

It's the last tab on the right. Switch on Let viewers configure it.

  3. Offer looks

Under Looks, click the looks people can switch between. A look switches every material and the light, as you made it. With two or more, name the choice (for example Finish).

  4. Offer the file's colourways

If your file carries material variants (glTF KHR_materials_variants, such as a shoe in three colourways), they're listed. Switch on Offer its material variants. Click one to preview it on the stage.

  5. Add part options

Select parts on the model or in the parts list, then click Add a choice for the selected parts. Name it, then Add a finish for each option, from the Studio library. The first finish is what opens.

  6. Try it

Try it as a viewer shows the model with its swatches, as your client or customer will see it.

Tips

  • Name parts in your 3D tool before exporting: the Configure tab uses the names from the file.
  • Combinations multiply: four finishes, three tops and three handles make 36 combinations from ten swatches, and none of them needs rendering.
  • To review a choice with a client, send the review link: they try the options and leave a note on the one they want, pinned to the model.
