Drawings and documents next to the model

Keep a model's PDF drawings, parts lists (Excel or CSV) and photos with it. They open beside the 3D, for you and, if you choose, for your client.

An engineering job is rarely a 3D file alone. There's the drawing with its dimensions and tolerances, a parts list, sometimes photos. In MeshMarkup they live with the model: the Drawings & documents button on the viewer's left toolbar opens them next to the 3D, on your model page and on your client's review link. Nothing to download, nothing to install, on a computer or a phone.

MeshMarkup keeps PDF files, Excel (.xlsx) and CSV spreadsheets, and JPG, PNG or WebP pictures, up to 100 MB each. They count toward your plan's storage like models do.

Add documents

There are four ways, and they all end in the same place:

  1. In a zip with the model

Zip the STEP (or any model) together with its PDF drawing and Excel parts list, and drop the zip on your Models page. The model is uploaded as usual, and the documents are linked to it.

  2. With the model, in one drop

Drop the model file and its documents together on the Models page.

  3. From the model page

Open Drawings & documents in the viewer and click Add, or drop files on the panel. They're linked to that model.

  4. On their own

Drop documents on the Models page, or on a project's Drawings & documents area on the Projects page. A document named like a model links itself to it: bracket-02-drawing.pdf goes with the model called bracket-02. Pictures and PDFs dropped on the Models page on their own ask where they go: onto a model, or as their own review.

What your client sees

Each document has a Visible to clients switch. Drawings and pictures start visible; spreadsheets start hidden, since a parts list often carries prices. On a review link, the client sees a Drawings button at the top of the model and opens them from there.

To check, use See as client at the top of the model page.

New revisions

Upload a document again under the same name, in the same project, and it becomes its next revision: Rev B, then Rev C. Everyone sees the latest one; the earlier revisions are kept, and you can open them from the Rev menu above the document.

One drawing can belong to several models, an assembly drawing to each of its parts, say. On the Projects page, every project has a Drawings & documents list: click Link next to a document to add a model, or the × on a model's name to unlink it. Unlinking never deletes the document; the bin icon does, with all its revisions.

Try it

Every account has a sample, Sample: pillow block assembly, with its general-arrangement drawing, a shaft drawing and a parts list. You can also see it from the client's side on the sample engineering review.
