Jira
Turn every client note on your 3D models into a Jira issue, linked both ways. When the issue is done in Jira, the note is resolved in MeshMarkup.
Connect Jira and every note a client leaves on your models becomes a Jira issue, with the client's words, the model, the version and a link straight back to the note. On the model page, the note shows its issue and the issue's current status, so you can jump across. When the issue is done in Jira, MeshMarkup resolves the note, with Jira as who resolved it.
Connect Jira
You need to be the studio's owner or an admin.
Click Connect
Open Settings → Integrations and click Connect on the Jira card.
Approve MeshMarkup in Jira
Atlassian asks which site MeshMarkup may use and shows what it will be able to do: read and create issues. Click Accept.
Choose where issues go
Back in MeshMarkup, the card opens Where should client notes go? The lists come from your own Jira account. Pick the Site (only if your account has more than one), the Project and the Issue type (Task, Bug, Story…). Click Save.
Check the card
It now says On, with your account name, and New client notes go to … underneath.
What happens next
A client leaves a note
On a review link, as usual. Notes your own studio leaves aren't sent: only your client's.
An issue appears in Jira
Within the hour. Its title is the note's number, the part and the client's words; its description has the full note, who left it, the model and version, and Open the note in MeshMarkup.
You finish the issue
In Jira, the issue is done when its status is in the Done category, whatever your workflow calls that status.
The note is resolved
Within the hour, the note turns Resolved in MeshMarkup, and your client sees that the next time they open the link. A note carried onto a newer version is resolved there too.
Change, pause or disconnect
- Change on the card reopens the choices. Untick Send every new client note to pause without disconnecting.
- Disconnect stops new issues. The ones already made stay in Jira, and the notes keep their links.
- If Jira stops accepting the connection (a password change, removed access), the card says Needs reconnecting. Click Reconnect.
Good to know
- The person who connects needs permission to create issues in the project.
- MeshMarkup sends Jira the note and a link, never your 3D files.
- Want a different setup, such as only some notes, or issues in several places? Use Zapier or Make with the New Note trigger instead.
